Our Core Practices
- Grants are awarded by application
- We review metrics to insure accountability from grant recipients
- We review metrics and strategic goals with the Bishop annually
- We report annually to donors at the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod Assembly
Strategic Goals of the fund
- Seminary Scholarships: We provide financial support for seminary students approved by the candidacy committee and enrolled in approved seminaries. (This may include tuition, books, travel and living expenses.)
Metrics-
- The distribution of the grants is determined by the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Candidacy Committee for approved candidates
- Each candidate is reviewed by Candidacy process
- Each candidate will submit reflections each year, sharing his or her stories
- New Starts: We support mission starts and redevelopment congregations approved by the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod.
Metrics-
- The distribution of the grants is determined by the Bishop and synod leadership
- Ministries will be reviewed regularly
- A tri-annual ministry review is done by the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast synod leadership and ELCA leadership
- Each ministry receiving grants will submit reflections each year, sharing its stories
- Campus Ministry: We support Campus Ministry at colleges and universities within the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod.
Metrics-
- The distribution of grants is determined by the Synod Staff and Campus Ministry Team
- There is an annual ministry review of the campus ministry leadership by the local board
- A tri-annual ministry review is done by the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast synod leadership and the regional ELCA leadership
- Each campus ministry receiving grants will submit reflections each year, sharing its story
