Wayne is a great family man, and has been married to Joni Weir for more than 30 years. They have 1 daughter, Alex who is currently a senior at TLU majoring in Youth and Family Ministry with her ultimate goal of becoming an ordained pastor for a congregation.
Wayne has been an active member of Advent Lutheran Church since 1991. He, Joni & Alex have made 2 trips to Peru and have been active with Advent’s sister congregation, Galilea in Huacho, Peru. Wayne believes in active outreach at Advent and has coordinated & volunteered for many projects, including: Peru Mission trips, annual lunch for campus ministry at the UH, job fair lunch semi-annually at Advent, Haiti donation sorting, Ike cleanup, coordination of the Advent Action Team’s schedule for Tropical Storm Allison cleanup of member’s homes, and many other outreach projects too numerous to mention. He is a talented member of the Advent Praise Choir and works tirelessly on the development, coordination and implementation of the Advent contemporary service, The Journey. During Alex’s junior high years, Wayne and Joni chaperoned Advent’s youth at the synod youth gatherings. Those were among his more challenging and rewarding experiences.
At the Synod level, He has served on the Mission Endowment Fund board for over 4 years and worked on the Peru committee since 2008.
Wayne knows how blessed he has been and sees the importance of estate planning to include the church and he and Joni have included Advent in their future plans.
Wayne has been the President and CEO of the Near NW Management District Houston since 2009 and previously was Executive Vice President of Junior Achievement of SE Texas for many years.
